Vitamin D-3 is the only form of Vitamin D that is highly assimilable by the body. Its functions are to maintain adequate blood levels of Calcium and Phosphorus in the body and to aid the intestinal absorption of Calcium, enabling bone mineralization. Therefore, Vitamin D can be used to prevent osteoporosis and to reduce bone fractures. This vitamin also participates in the synthesis of proteins that help normal blood clotting. Vitamin K also participates in cellular apoptosis (programmed cell death), an important action in oncological diseases.
