In terms of hair, it increases its elasticity and thickness, provides a good level of hydration to the scalp and prevents hair loss; in nails, it increases the production of keratin, favoring their strengthening; it promotes the hydration and regeneration of the skin.
Biotin is a B-complex vitamin that is also known as vitamin H. It is a water-soluble vitamin produced directly by intestinal bacteria.
It is an essential cofactor for four enzymes linked to the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and proteins.
It acts mainly on energy metabolism and cell growth; it increases insulin sensitivity and the use of glucose by the liver, reducing blood glucose levels and improving peripheral neuropathy (tingling and numbness in the limbs) in diabetics and non-diabetics; It acts to maintain or improve the health of hair, skin and nails: in the case of hair, it increases its elasticity and thickness, provides a good level of hydration to the scalp and strengthens the hair, preventing hair loss; in the case of nails, it increases the production of keratin (a protein that makes up nails), promoting their growth and strengthening; in the case of skin, biotin promotes its hydration and regeneration.
A deficiency of this vitamin can cause dry, scaly skin, seborrhea and anorexia in adults; in children under 6 months, the symptoms are seborrheic dermatitis and hair loss.

This vitamin has antioxidant properties, which is why it plays an important role in protecting all the body's structures, as it neutralizes free radicals; protects blood lipids and cholesterol from oxidative damage, and regenerates vitamin E to its active form. This antioxidant role also gives it a protective effect against cardiovascular disease; stimulates the immune system by increasing the function of white blood cells, interferon (a protein mediator that defends cells against pathogens), as well as the production of antibodies; helps in the formation of collagen, as it is a coenzyme in the hydroxylation process of lysine and proline, forming, respectively, hydroxylysine and hydroxyproline, substances that are part of the composition of collagen, a protein that gives structure, firmness and elasticity to the skin.
