The Cogumelo do Sol(Agaricus blazei Murill) is a mushroom native to the mountainous regions of the Atlantic Forest in the south of the state of São Paulo, in the city of Piedade (Colauto et al. 2002). In the 1960s, Japanese epidemiologists, while studying the native population of Piedade, observed that disease rates in this region were extremely low. After analyzing their eating habits, they found that the regular consumption of this mushroom, identified in 1972 as Agaricus blazei Murill, was related to the low morbidity rate. Experiments with rats carried out in Japan verified that this mushroom caused a significantly higher activation of the immune system than that attributed to Shiitake, Maitake, Reishi, and other mushrooms considered medicinal.This mushroom is attributed with activity in the prevention of neoplastic diseases, hyperlipidemia, arteriosclerosis, chronic hepatitis type I and II. Agaricus blazei Murill acts like a sponge in the intestinal tract, absorbing pathogenic elements and altered cells, which it expels from the body through feces. The biological origin of the mushroom is of vital importance, due to its high capacity as a bio-accumulator of toxins and heavy metals from the cultivation substrate, and for this very reason, it is very useful for use in chelation therapies.THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS:
