Now Foods Multi Collagen Protein Types I, II & III
- Hydrolyzed Collagen – Types I, II & III
- Structural protein (decreasing production with age)
- With Vitamin C, which contributes to normal collagen production
With age, collagen production decreases. We lose approximately 6% of collagen per decade, and after the age of 30, this loss accelerates to 1% per year. This leads to the appearance of wrinkles as the skin's support weakens. However, other organic structures are also affected, such as the joints, of which collagen is also a part, especially Type II collagen found in this formulation.
Cartilage is one of the body's primary connective tissues, ensuring flexibility and support for bone joints. One of the main diseases related to cartilage is Osteoarthritis, which affects the joints, causing inflammation. Type II collagen participates, along with the immune system, in maintaining healthy joints, aiding in joint mobility and flexibility.
Morphologically, Type II collagen is quite similar to Type I, but the latter is more abundant in the skin. As for Type III, we can more relevantly associate it with the structure of veins and arteries, as well as certain organs such as the uterus, liver, or kidneys.
Thus, the comprehensive nature of this supplement makes it ideal for the general maintenance of various body tissues in men and women, and it can be a significant benefit for women in perimenopause and menopause who are more fragile in terms of bone and joint health and have a higher probability of developing wrinkles due to estrogen decline, as collagen peptide supplementation has shown improvements in skin hydration and elasticity.
Albumin is an important protein for skin regeneration and health, and stabilizing its levels is one of the concerns in the recovery of burn patients. In a 2020 study, collagen supplementation showed to increase albumin levels and even decrease the hospital stay of these patients.
Hydrolyzed collagen is more bioavailable because it has undergone a protein breakdown process, resulting in small units with lower molecular weight, and therefore better absorbed. In this case, the collagen present in this formula is of bovine origin, from chicken bone broth, and fish skin.
This supplement also contains Vitamin C, which contributes to endogenous collagen production, and Grape seed extract with high antioxidant capacity, protecting the skin and the entire body from oxidative damage that causes long-term tissue aging.
